The mask

Masks

As a supporter of the NHS, Stowood is keen to do everything we can to support our clinical colleagues in this challenging time.

One thing we can do is use our prototyping facilities to help produce protective face masks for frontline workers.

We have joined up with a national team of volunteers to manufacture and distribute face masks to those in need, and are manufacturing them in addition to our normal workflow.

Our local daily newspaper, the Oxford Mail, was kind enough to mention our efforts, here.

The first components off the line

A possible Covid protein

Crowd computing

Stowood is also contributing by donating our spare computing power to crowd-sourced protein folding consortia.  With our help and the help of millions of others, scientists have been able to predict the structure of proteins important to the disease as well as to produce new, stable mini-proteins to be used as potential therapeutics and diagnostics, like the one displayed left which scientists say is likely to part of the COVID-19 spike protein.
